Field Visit
C3S Business School students recently had an incredible opportunity to visit the Amazon Logistics Center (BCN1) located in El Prat de Llobregat, Barcelona. The visit offered students a valuable real-world perspective on how one of the world’s leading logistics and fulfillment operations functions with precision, innovation, and operational excellence.
During the visit, students explored Amazon’s advanced logistics systems and gained insights into warehouse automation, fulfillment processes, and supply chain management. The experience allowed participants to observe how technology, teamwork, and operational planning work together to ensure efficiency in large-scale logistics environments.
One of the most impressive aspects of the visit was Amazon’s strong commitment to workplace safety and operational standards. Every process within the facility was carefully designed to maintain employee safety, workflow efficiency, and smooth coordination across departments. Students witnessed how structured systems and safety measures contribute to maintaining high operational performance.
The visit also highlighted the importance of data confidentiality and operational security in global logistics operations. Students learned how Amazon follows strict security protocols to manage customer information, product handling, and logistics data with accuracy and responsibility.
Key learning outcomes from the visit included:
• Advanced logistics and fulfillment operations • Warehouse automation and process management • Workplace safety and compliance standards • Data confidentiality and operational security • Team coordination and supply chain efficiency
An interesting fact shared during the visit was the meaning behind the facility name “BCN1.” The center is named BCN1 because it is strategically located near Barcelona Airport Terminal 1, making it a vital hub for transportation and logistics connectivity in the region.
Experiences like this help bridge the gap between classroom learning and industry practice, enabling students to better understand global business operations through practical exposure and professional interaction.
